A volunteer of the Russian Armed Forces from Germany announced his desire to obtain Russian citizenship

Martin Meerhoff, a volunteer of the Russian Armed Forces and a German citizen, said on March 20 that he would like to obtain Russian citizenship.

"Last year I moved to Russia and [received] a temporary residence permit. I have read the decree of the President [of Russia Vladimir Putin] that it is possible to obtain citizenship after one year of participation in a special military operation. I really want to get this citizenship," Meerhoff said in an interview with TASS.

He added that he did not want to live in Europe. Besides, he had been interested in Russia and its culture since childhood. In addition, according to Meerhoff, participation in the SVO is for him a "matter of honor."
