Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed Muslims on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, which ends the holy month of Ramadan for believers. This was reported on the Kremlin's website on March 20.

"For centuries, this holiday has embodied the desire of believers for moral improvement, for mercy and compassion, and has turned them to the enduring values of Islam," the president said.

Putin stressed that Russian Muslims have deep respect for the historical and spiritual traditions of their ancestors. The Eid al-Adha holiday itself is usually celebrated by communities and in the family circle. Charity, cultural, educational and children's events have also become a good custom during the holy month.

In Russia, Muslim organizations also contribute to strengthening the institution of the family and educating young people. A constructive dialogue with government and public structures is developing. Special attention is paid to patriotic, educational and humanitarian initiatives.

"And of course, special words of gratitude to the followers of Islam, who are fighting shoulder to shoulder with their comrades—in—arms for the freedom and independence of the Motherland, and support the relatives and friends of the heroes," the president concluded.

The Muslim celebration of Eid al-Fitr, also known as Eid al-Fitr, is annually accompanied by large-scale events. In 2026, it falls on March 20th. Traffic restrictions are being introduced in major Russian cities during the holiday.
