The Russian Interior Ministry has charged former FIFA referee Pavel Stipidi with unlawfully influencing the results of football matches. This was reported to Vedomosti Sport/RB on March 19 by two sources familiar with the case.

The arbitrator is accused under Article 184, Part 5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation of mediating the transfer of funds to the referees who served the game with the participation of the Khimki club near Moscow. Currently, the defendant has been released on his own recognizance.

According to the Interior Ministry, Stipidi acted as a liaison, transferring money from the customer to the direct executors, while realizing the illegal nature of the transactions.

In December last year, Judge Egor Egorov was detained in the Moscow Torpedo case when he was trying to fly out of Russia. In June, FC co-owner Leonid Sobolev was also detained. A criminal case was opened against him, as well as the director of Torpedo, Valery Skorodumov. According to preliminary data, they tried to bribe the referee by offering him 1 million rubles for winning the match, awarding penalties to opponents or removing their player.
