Record amounts returned to the budget thanks to the Accounting Chamber in 2025
By the end of 2025, the Accounting Chamber of the Russian Federation provided an economic effect of 653 billion rubles. Half of these funds returned to the budget, and the volume of returns was record-breaking. This was announced on March 19 by Boris Kovalchuk, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, in his report on the work of the body in the State Duma.
"The main priorities in the work were the implementation of national goals and national projects, the analysis of tasks related to the conduct of a special military operation, the development and strengthening of the country's defense capability, as well as issues of technological sovereignty and modernization of the Russian economy," he said.
According to him, the Accounting Chamber organized 293 inspections in the reporting year. As a result, 162 materials were sent to law enforcement agencies. In addition, 77 criminal cases have been initiated, which is 3.7 times higher than in 2024.
In his report, Kovalchuk also announced the optimization of audit procedures. The main focus was on monitoring the effectiveness of the use of funds in key industries. and strengthening control over the efficiency of spending in key industries.
The head of the Accounts Chamber stressed that the body does not limit itself to fixing violations, but forms recommendations for departments. The State Duma, in turn, noted the effectiveness of such work.
Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, during Kovalchuk's report, said that the proposals made by the Accounting Chamber to increase the efficiency of the budget ruble would allow the state to provide housing to at least 500 orphans annually. According to him, the volume of allocated benefits, in particular for the IT sector, is 2.2 trillion rubles.
