Britain has withdrawn the transportation of Kazakh oil from sanctions
Great Britain has withdrawn from sanctions the transportation of Kazakh oil by Transneft until March 18, 2028. This became known from the general license of the British Ministry of Finance published on March 19.
As specified, any activity involving Transneft related to the "supply, purchase, transportation or delivery of Kazakh oil" is excluded from sanctions.
The document notes that the license comes into force on March 19, 2026 and is valid until 23:59 on March 18, 2028. In addition, the UK Treasury may change, revoke or suspend the document at any time.
The British newspaper The Telegraph reported on March 13 that the lifting of US restrictions on Russian oil by April 11 could improve Russia's economic situation. It is noted that Britain does not support the decision of US President Donald Trump to lift sanctions against Russian oil.
The U.S. Treasury Department said that as part of the changes in the sanctions policy, the United States granted an exception for the sale of Russian oil and petroleum products shipped before March 12. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained that the withdrawal of oil sales from Russia from US sanctions is aimed at reducing the cost of energy resources on world markets.
