Putin calls Russian Paralympians heroes
The Russian Paralympians who successfully competed at the Games in Italy are heroes. This was announced on March 19 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"This is the foundation of the Fatherland's many achievements in sports, its glorious history, which has been and will continue to be made up by heroes like you," he said at a meeting with Paralympians in the Kremlin.
The Head of State stressed that the Russian flag and anthem had triumphantly returned to the sports arena thanks to the Russian Paralympians.
Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), announced on March 18 that Russian athletes who won or won the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Italy would receive increased payments due to indexation.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on March 16 that the Kremlin highly appreciated the performance of Russian athletes at the Paralympics. The Russian national team took the third overall place, winning five gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
