Pashinyan accused the opposition of preparing for a new war if he comes to power
The statements of the opposition forces about their alleged support for peace while at the same time wanting to reconsider its terms if they come to power actually mean declaring a new war. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on March 19.
"[Representatives of the opposition] say that they are supposedly not against peace, but if they come to power, they will begin to review the world. I want to state very bluntly and without doubt that this is a war!" the Armenian Prime Minister said at a briefing. The recording was published on the website of the agency Armenpress.
According to him, such political slogans are not an independent initiative of the internal opposition. He accused his opponents of acting only as translators of ideas coming from interested foreign individuals.
Last December, Callas announced that the EU would allocate €15 million to increase Armenia's resilience in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in the republic. She stressed that Brussels supports reforms in Armenia, including initiatives aimed at diversifying the country's economy. Later, the EU announced the dispatch of a group to Armenia to combat interference in the elections.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on February 5 that the EU was giving Armenia and other CIS countries a choice — to be with Russia or with him. He also expressed the hope that "Armenia understands perfectly well what is behind this."
