The limit of payments for life and health in CTP can be increased to 2 million rubles.

An agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Russia and the parliamentary corps to increase the limit on life and health benefits under CTP to 2 million rubles. This was stated by the president of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS) Evgeny Ufimtsev, TASS reported on March 19.

According to him, these changes may occur in 2026, and the insurance community will make every effort to do so.

CTP compensation payments for harm to life and health are reimbursements paid to victims (pedestrians, passengers, drivers) within the framework of the law if the insurance company of the culprit cannot do this. The maximum amount is 500 thousand rubles for each victim.

At the end of last year, Ufimtsev said that about 7% of car owners in Russia are faced with a situation where the limit of 400 thousand rubles established by the law "On OSAGO" is not enough to cover the cost of repairing a car. Then he proposed to revise the current limits on CTP (400 thousand rubles for property damaged in an accident, including broken cars, and 500 thousand rubles for harm to human life and health as a result of an accident), increasing them to 1 million rubles and 2 million rubles, respectively.

Earlier, on March 17, the Bank of Russia proposed to change the rules for determining repair costs for CTP, taking into account the market situation. It is expected that as a result of such changes, the average CTP payment will increase by 9%.
