Russian tourists were predicted to increase prices for foreign tours by 5-7%
The cost of foreign tours for Russians in 2026 may increase by 5-7%. This forecast was announced on March 18 at a press conference by the head of the tour operator FUN&SUN, Vladimir Rubtsov. This was announced on March 19 by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
"Traditionally, high discounts on early booking promotions come to an end in February, and they have always been there in March, but they are lower. Now some Turkish hotels keep big discounts — up to 50%. So far, these are point offers. But I believe that in the current conditions it should be done massively now," Rubtsov's words are quoted by ATOR in the Telegram channel.
According to ATOR, after the outbreak of the Middle East crisis, sales of foreign tours sank by about 50%, but in recent days the situation has improved: week-to-week growth amounted to 30-40%. Analysts call the rise in prices for aviation fuel, which is already included in new bookings, the main reason for the rise in price of travel packages.
Against the background of problems with travel through the Persian Gulf countries, a redistribution of demand is beginning. Egypt, which is considered as an alternative to the UAE in terms of climate and accessibility, may become the main beneficiary. Turkey keeps tourists with targeted discounts of up to 50%, but such offers are not yet widespread.
Rubtsov urged hoteliers not to repeat the mistakes of 2023, when hotels remained half-empty due to the expectation of a surge in sales at the last moment.
Bekir Dolmush, a representative of Alanya's tourism sector, warned on March 10 that Russian tourists should not expect cheap holidays in Turkey in the coming summer. According to him, the crisis in the Middle East has disrupted the economic and tourism plans of the Turkish authorities.
