As a result of 44 accidents, 19 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 25 outside their area of operation, there were no dead pedestrians, but 47 road users in this category were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 11 underage pedestrians, five of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
In the early morning in the Moscow region, on 65 km of the federal highway M-10 "Russia", a 52-year-old crossover driver ran over an intoxicated 32-year-old pedestrian crossing the roadway outside a pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian was injured and ended up in the hospital.
In the city of Goryachy Klyuch, Krasnodar Territory, in the evening, a 37-year-old female driver of a subcompact passenger car ran over a 68-year-old cyclist who was slowly crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. As a result of the accident, a female cyclist was hospitalized with injuries.
13 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 31 road users, including one child, required medical attention. Seven bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. There were also 19 accidents involving minors, in which 20 young road users were injured, including seven passengers and two motor vehicle drivers. There are no dead children.
In Chelyabinsk, in the morning, a 49-year-old female SUV driver drove into the oncoming lane in an authorized place on a snow-slick roadway, where she collided with a crossover driven by a 45-year-old motorist. After the first collision, the crossover collided with another passenger car driven by a 21-year-old driver. As a result of the accident, both female drivers received minor injuries and, after receiving medical attention, were sent for outpatient treatment.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of towns and cities, especially in the morning and evening. Drivers should take special care when approaching intersections and unregulated pedestrian crossings. It is recommended not to rush through them as quickly as possible, but, on the contrary, to reduce the speed of movement to the minimum in advance in order to stop the vehicle for pedestrians to pass.
"In addition, we advise you not to overestimate your strength and driving skills, to abandon risky driving, exceeding the speed limit, to refrain from sudden rash maneuvers and changes of lanes, overtaking and driving into oncoming traffic — even in the permitted places.
