Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis congratulated each other on the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This was announced on March 19 on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"Lavrov and the head of the Federal Department (Minister) of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Igor Cassis, exchanged congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries," the statement said.

The anniversary date itself was celebrated the day before, on March 18, she added "Газета.Ru ".

On February 6, following talks in Moscow with Cassis and Feridun Sinirlioglu, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Lavrov said that Western countries, after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, had made subordinating the OSCE to the interests of a hybrid war against the Russian Federation one of their key goals. As a result of these actions, the OSCE agenda turned out to be almost entirely focused on the Ukrainian issue, although it was originally intended to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
