The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, sharply criticized the European Union (EU), calling it a "totalitarian contagion." On March 19, he wrote about this on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"European intervention! The goal is to censor [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orban. And, if necessary, to achieve the annulment of the Hungarian elections, as in Romania, in the name of "fighting Russian interference!" The EU is a totalitarian contagion," Filippo said.

The politician commented on the activation by the European Commission (EC) of the rapid notification mechanism based on the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) in the context of the parliamentary elections in Hungary, which will be held on April 12.

In addition, the politician called for the lifting of sanctions against Russia against the background of the conflict in the Middle East, which led to a jump in energy prices.

"It is necessary to immediately freeze prices, reduce taxes and get rid of the EU in order to leave the European electricity market, lower VAT to 5.5% and lift anti—Russian sanctions!" he wrote.

Philippot said on March 17 that if Ukraine joined the European Union (EU), France would face "final destruction." In addition, the politician called on France to leave the EU before Ukraine integrates into the bloc.
