Russia plans to create a nuclear power plant on the Moon with a capacity of at least 5 kW with an operational life of up to ten years. This was announced on March 19 by Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.

"By the mid—2030s, this station with at least 5 kW of capacity with up to ten years of operation should be created on the Moon," Likhachev said, speaking at the seminar "Electric Power Industry — the basis of the country's development" at the Russian Ministry of Energy. A recording of his speech was posted on the agency's VKontakte page.

According to him, Rosatom, the Kurchatov Institute and Roscosmos are already working together to determine the shape of the future station.

On March 17, a Soyuz-2.1a rocket with a Progress MS-33 cargo ship was installed on the launch pad for the first time after repairs at the Baikonur cosmodrome. The truck is scheduled to be launched on March 22. It will deliver more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the International Space Station, including fuel for refueling, food and water.
