- The Supreme Court approved the verdict of the ex-chief of the criminal investigation department of Anapa
The Supreme Court of Russia has approved the conviction of Igor Nekhaenko, the former head of the Anapa Criminal Investigation Department. This was announced on March 19 by a source of Izvestia.
The investigation and the court established that Nekhaenko was an active participant in the criminal group of Sergei Zirinov. In particular, he was found guilty of involvement in the assassination attempt on the chieftain of the Anapa Cossack army Nikolai Nesterenko in 2013. Then the car of the Cossack leader was shelled — Nesterenko himself survived, but his driver Viktor Zhuk died of his injuries.
Holding a high position in the Interior Ministry, Nekhaenko used his official powers in the interests of the gang: he collected information about future victims, participated in planning attacks and helped accomplices to hide from justice.
In December 2024, the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced the former head of the criminal investigation department to 20 years in prison in a high-security penal colony. He was also fined 800,000 rubles and stripped of the special rank of "police Lieutenant colonel."
