Lukashenko receives Trump's special envoy in Minsk
On March 19, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with an American delegation led by Special envoy of the President of the United States John Cole.
"In general, the agenda (we won't hide it, we discussed it in advance) has been determined. Therefore, as always, I am ready to discuss any issues and answer any problems. But I would strongly ask you to discuss regional issues," BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying.
He clarified that by "regional problems" he means not only the Ukrainian issue, but also the crisis in the Middle East. The Belarusian leader stressed that the United States is fighting against "friends" and that he is ready for a serious and frank conversation.
The Reuters news agency reported on March 19 that the US presidential administration is considering sending thousands of troops to the Middle East due to tensions with Iran. According to sources, options are being discussed to ensure the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz using aviation and naval forces.
On March 17, US President Donald Trump announced that the US military operation against Iran could end in the near future. He noted that the United States is not yet ready to withdraw troops against Iran, but it will happen "in the very near future.
