Moscow has announced the completion of preparations for the electric scooter season
The Moscow Department of Transport, together with rental operators, are finalizing preparations for the new season of electric scooters and bicycles. It will be the ninth for electric scooter rentals, and the 13th for bicycles. The metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel on March 19.
It is not specified exactly when the new season starts. According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry, only those electric scooters and bicycles that fully comply with safety requirements and meet the conditions of the city are allowed to work in the city.
Thus, all means of individual mobility (SIM) must be serviceable, clean and with license plates of a single format, which was approved last year, the Department of Transport said.
In Moscow, there are more than 420 slow zones for SIM at the MCD and MCC stations, in parks, near bus stops and the metro. Special markings have also been applied in 250 locations.
Mikhail Porvatov, presidential adviser on public Relations with the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA), said on March 11 that the initiative of a number of State Duma deputies to extend CTP to SIM faces two obstacles — the impossibility of state registration and the lack of control over liability insurance for their owners.
