- The Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the exercises of the Western Operational Command troops
The troops of the Western Operational Command (WOC) of Belarus have begun conducting exercises under the leadership of the country's chief of the General Staff, Major General Pavel Muraveyko. This was announced on March 19 by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus.
"From March 19 to March 25, under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, Major General Pavel Muraveyko, a comprehensive exercise is being conducted with the troops of the ZOK," the ministry said in a statement on the Telegram channel.
The exercises are conducted to test combat readiness, and are also purely defensive in nature. The training is aimed at training Belarusian military personnel and respecting national interests in protecting the sovereignty of the state.
Muraveyko clarified that the exercises plan to maximize the use of local industrial and administrative bases. In addition, the soldiers will practice modern methods of using weapons of destruction. Among them, the Major General referred to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare systems (EW) and means of information warfare and counter-battery warfare.
On February 4, the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Lieutenant General Alexander Volfovich, announced the readiness of his state to deploy Armed Forces to the size necessary for protection. A few days ago, he also informed Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko about the progress of a large-scale check of the combat readiness of the republic's troops.
