The Ministry of Agriculture reported a 24.6% decrease in cucumber prices over the month.

Cucumbers have fallen in price by 24.6% in Russia over the past month. This was reported to Izvestia on March 19 by the Ministry of Agriculture, commenting on the dynamics of vegetable prices.

"Currently, prices for almost all vegetables are lower than they were a year ago. According to Rosstat data on March 18, the retail price of white cabbage decreased by 26% year—on—year, potatoes — by 22.5%, onions - by 15.5%, beets - by 13.8%. Cucumbers have become 24.6% cheaper in a month," the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture told Izvestia.

They also noted that starting in the spring, as crops from greenhouses and then from the open ground enter the market, prices for cucumbers and tomatoes will decrease.

"In 2026, there is a positive trend in the production of greenhouse vegetables. As of March 10, over 250,000 tons of tomatoes, cucumbers and other greenhouse vegetables have been harvested in the organized sector. This is 4.7% higher than in the same period last year," the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture said.

In addition, the ministry noted that the active development of greenhouse vegetable growing contributes to the growth of vegetable production. Today, more than 340 greenhouses with a total area of about 3.3 thousand hectares operate in 76 regions of the country. By 2027, it is planned to implement over 30 projects in the field of greenhouse vegetable growing in Russia, the total capacity of which will exceed 157 thousand tons of products per year.
