Sanatorium-resort tourism will be developed on Sakhalin

Sakhalin authorities will develop sanatorium-resort tourism with a focus, among other things, on residents of the Far East. 300,000 tourists visit the islands every year, but the authorities intend to double this figure.

The topic was discussed at a strategic session led by Governor Valery Limarenko, which was attended by tour operators, hoteliers and doctors. The concept of recreation, which could combine active tourism, thermal springs and preventive medicine, was discussed.

According to IA AmurMedia, the participants managed to create a concept of winter and summer holidays and draw a portrait of the target tourist. According to experts, sanatorium-resort tourism is able to attract visitors from other regions and improve the lives of the islanders.

According to the governor, there are no analogues of such a product that would combine tourism and medicine in the Far East. Infrastructure development, construction of hotels and trails in the "Mountain Air" will continue.

One of the main points of attraction will be the Sinegorskie Mineralnye Vody sanatorium located in a unique deposit of arsenic waters. Alexey Peshkov, General Director of the sanatorium, said that there are only four such deposits in the world. Arsenicic waters are beneficial for the cardiovascular and nervous systems. More and more tourists from other regions and foreign countries come to the resort, and some return for the second time.

Tours in the Kuril Islands almost always include bathing in thermal springs. According to the Regional Minister of Tourism Artem Lazarev, preventive medicine, spa and detox are gaining momentum. Package offers will be formed on the basis of hotels in Sakhalin together with medical organizations.

Guests can combine boat trips or skiing with medical examinations and mineral baths.
