The proportion of pupils in grades 1-4 who attend extended day groups (RPS) should be at least 17.6% by 2030. This was announced on March 19 by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov.
"By 2030, the share of pupils in grades 1-4 attending extended day groups should be at least 17.6%. Today, more than 1.43 million children are involved in them," the ministry's press service quoted him as saying on its website.
Kravtsov clarified that extended day groups are becoming a full-fledged educational and educational environment, and not just a form of child care. The steady growth in the enrollment of schoolchildren indicates the demand for such an organization of extracurricular time.
At the beginning of the 2024/25 school year, 16.48% of children were enrolled in extended-day groups, and the total number of such groups in the country exceeded 49 thousand.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with members of the government on March 4, pointed out that the work schedules of kindergartens and extended-day groups in Russian schools should be adjusted taking into account the employment of parents. The Head of State noted that since 2019, about 940 billion rubles have been allocated from the federal budget for the modernization of educational infrastructure.
On February 14, Kravtsov announced that the Ministry of Education intends to improve the work of kindergartens. In particular, it is planned to introduce amendments to the Federal State Educational Standards (FGOS) of Preschool Education in order to strengthen the educational component. In addition, an organizing committee will be set up to implement the action plan, which will take into account the proposals received from the regions.
