In Indonesia, jet fuel may be illegally diluted due to shortages.
Against the background of a shortage, aviation fuel may be illegally diluted in Indonesia. A source in the country's aviation industry warned about this on March 19.
"There are indeed signs of a fuel shortage now, and it may spread to the aviation sector. In the worst—case scenario, attempts to circumvent regulations, including diluting fuel for aircraft, cannot be ruled out," the source told RIA Novosti.
It is noted that this practice may spread primarily among private aviation, as well as at small airfields. It is there that the security controls are not so strict. At the same time, if such a scheme is revealed, participants in the aviation market who have violated the rules may face "severe sanctions."
Atif Kubursi, an economics professor at McMaster University, told Izvestia on March 18 that the conflict in the Middle East had become a serious blow to the global economy. According to the expert, this was influenced by the import tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump and the special operation of the United States and Israel on Iran, which disrupted oil supplies through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. For example, Asian economies depend on this oil. In his opinion, in order to create a balance of supply and demand with a shortage, the price of oil should rise up to $ 200 per barrel.
