The FBI has launched an investigation into the former head of the Center for combating Terrorism in the office of the Director of National Intelligence Joe Kent. This was reported on March 18 by CBS News, citing sources familiar with the situation.

"The FBI is investigating Kent on suspicion of leaking classified information. The investigation began before Kent resigned this week," sources told CBS News. The FBI declined to comment on the details of the case.

It is noted that Kent resigned on March 16. In his resignation letter, he stated that Iran "did not pose an immediate threat to the United States" and claimed that the war was started under Israeli pressure.

NBC News reported on March 16 that the military from Trump's entourage offered him several options for ending the conflict with Iran in case the American president wanted to stop the operation. Some sources said that even the timing of the conflict is currently uncertain.

Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton said on March 10 that if the US president fails in a military operation against Iran, he will blame Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for this. At the same time, the Reuters news agency indicated that, according to American intelligence, the government in Iran will not change in the near future, and the current political regime is not on the verge of collapse.
