The Orthodox Easter holiday in 2026 will fall on April 12. This was announced on March 19 by the head of the missionary department of the Pesochen diocese, Priest Vladislav Beregovoy.

"This year Easter falls on April 12th. Yes, yes, on the very day when we Orthodox Christians recall together what our Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin once said: "Let's go!" and flew off to the stars to check if God was there," the clergyman said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He explained that the date of Easter is calculated according to the lunisolar calendar and may fall on the period from April 4 to May 8. Beregovoy added that April 12 falls into this gap not so rarely — for example, such a coincidence has already happened in 2020. According to the representative of the diocese, this is not just an irony of fate, but a symbolic intertwining of historical events.

"There are no accidents. See how much there is in common here. Astronauts conquer space. Christ has conquered time and death. We spent the entire fast preparing for Easter, a spiritual ascent. We fasted, as before the start, and dropped the excess. And on the day when the world honors the one who broke through into the physical sky, we will celebrate Easter — a breakthrough into the spiritual sky," Beregovoy emphasized.
