The submarine forces of the Russian Navy celebrate the 120th anniversary of its creation on March 19, 2026.

"Service in the submarine fleet is considered not a job, but destiny and religion, a lifelong vocation, a vocation to live by the laws of underwater brotherhood, examples of personal self-sacrifice, the highest professionalism and patriotism, exemplary cohesion of crews, genuine heroism, iron willpower and composure," the navy's press service said.

It is noted that the submarine forces were created and continue to develop thanks to the efforts of hundreds of thousands of people, employees of leading design bureaus, shipbuilding and repair enterprises, factories. The creation of a modern underwater nuclear and nuclear missile fleet can be called the largest scientific and engineering achievement. This is a real collective feat of scientists, shipbuilders, engineers, workers and military submariners.

"The serial construction of strategic missile cruisers of the Borey project 955A is currently underway. These are modern combat platforms that have no analogues in the world, armed with modern ballistic missiles," the ministry said.

The Navy also plans to accept multipurpose nuclear submarines of the Yasen, Yasen-M project and modern diesel-electric submarines. Russian submarine crews are continuously on combat duty in all areas of the world ocean.

During the performance of combat duty, submariners show the highest efficiency and selfless love for Russia, and multiply the best traditions of the Russian sub-fleet. Their service strengthens the country's glory as a great maritime power.

"At all times, submariners have been united by the highest level of training, "deep" knowledge not only of their superiors, but also of the submarine as a whole, willingness to take risks and mutual assistance, readiness for the limitations of life and everyday life, and at the same time exceptional readiness to fulfill the assigned combat mission," concluded the press service of the submarine fleet.

On March 17, crews of Ka-27M anti-submarine helicopters from the separate naval anti-submarine helicopter regiment of the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet conducted exercises to search, detect and subsequently destroy a simulated enemy submarine in the Barents Sea. During the training sorties, the military personnel were able to conduct a full cycle of anti-submarine exercises. So, at the initial stage, the pilots worked out the search for the submarine, for these purposes, standard radar and sonar equipment were used.

On March 12, the Kazan nuclear-powered submarine missile cruiser of the Northern Fleet fired an Onyx cruise missile at a sea target from an underwater position as part of planned combat training activities. The target, which designated the ship of the imaginary enemy, was located at a distance of up to 300 km in the Barents Sea. Objective control footage shows that the head of the Onyx missile hit a naval target.
