Bears of the Moscow Zoo came out of hibernation
The Himalayan bears Aladdin, Granny, Fanya and Vasya, as well as the brown bear Grom, have emerged from hibernation in the Moscow Zoo. This was announced on Wednesday, March 18, by Svetlana Akulova, General Director of the zoo.
According to her, with the onset of spring, almost all the bears woke up: in the new territory — Aladdin, Thunder and Granny, in the old territory — Fanya and Vasya. In the zoo in Ustyug, the bear Misha also came out of hibernation, while Yasha continues to sleep, RT notes.
Akulova noted that due to the snowy winter, a later awakening was expected, but spring came faster, and the bears woke up ahead of schedule. She added that she was particularly worried about 32-year-old Aladdin, but all the animals are feeling well, gradually coming to an active state and exploring the territory, the Moscow City News agency reports.
Also, according to her, experts drew attention to the behavior of the bear Granny.: She started exercising twice a day and rolling over from side to side. Akulova stressed that the reasons for this behavior are still unknown, and they plan to study this fact in more detail, writes Moscow 24.
