The initiative to send Russian women to a psychologist on the issue of childbirth is advisory in nature. Natalia Dolgushina, the chief freelance specialist in women's reproductive health at the Ministry of Health, said this on Wednesday, March 18.

She noted that the consultation with a specialist will be conducted only with the consent of the patient.

"This measure is aimed at preventing artificial termination of pregnancy and increasing the birth rate," Dolgushina explained in an interview with RT.

Earlier that day, it became known that in Russia, women who do not plan to have a child can be referred to a psychologist, IA Regnum reports.

The recommendations indicate that the optimal age for pregnancy and childbirth is from 18 to 35 years. If risk factors are identified, including underweight or overweight, unhealthy habits, and chronic diseases, the patient should be referred to a therapist. In addition, if you have acne and alopecia (baldness), you can consult a dermatovenerologist.

In turn, gynecologist-reproductologist Maria Milyutina told the National Research Council that it is useful to send a woman who does not want to have children to a voluntary consultation with a psychologist, as gynecologists face "tragedies" every day due to delayed motherhood.
