According to the results of the preliminary stage, Traktor secured the sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. His opponent, Ak Bars Kazan, secured the third place in the final standings, which gives the club from Tatarstan the advantage of its site in the opening matches of the series.

Other pairs in the Eastern Conference have also been determined. Metallurg Magnitogorsk, the winner of the regular season, will play Sibir Novosibirsk in the first round, which took the eighth place. Omsk Avangard, which finished second, will face Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik. Another confrontation awaits fans in the series between Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist and Ufa Salavat Yulaev.
