As a result of the strike on the territory of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran on Tuesday, a building located 350 m from the reactor was destroyed. It is specified that the reactor itself was not damaged. This was announced on March 18 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"Following information received from Iran about the incident with a shell hit on Tuesday evening, the IAEA can confirm that the facility located 350 meters from the Bushehr NPP reactor was hit and destroyed," the agency said in a statement on the social network X (former. Twitter).

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted that any attack on nuclear power plants and nearby facilities violates key principles that are necessary to preserve nuclear safety in armed conflicts. He added that these rules should not be violated under any circumstances.

On March 17, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran reported that an enemy shell hit the territory of the Bushehr NPP. It is noted that the station was also not damaged. The organization called the strike a violation of international rights.

In addition, on March 18, the Israeli Air Force attacked the largest gas processing plant in the Islamic Republic. Iran's Tasnim news agency previously reported that several sections of the South Pars gas field had been hit. Several facilities were disabled, and a fire broke out on the spot.
