Sales of electric cars in Russia increased by almost a quarter
In the first two months of 2026, 1,566 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 23% more than in January-February last year. The analytical agency Autostat reported this on March 18.
Among the brands in terms of sales, the domestic Evolute is the leader with 543 units (almost 35% of the market). The top five also included the brands Geely (200 units), Xiaomi (157 units), Zeekr (144 units) and BYD (119 units). Besides them, the Avatr brand managed to reach the mark of 100 electric vehicles sold.
Among the listed brands, only Zeekr and Avatr showed negative market dynamics (-69% and -8%, respectively), while the rest showed growth. At the same time, Geely turned out to be the strongest (by 25 times), which experts explained by the effect of a low base.
In the vintage rating, the most popular electric car is the Evolve i-Joy (455 units; 30% of the market).. The Geely EX5 (183 units) rose to second place, and Xiaomi YU7 (88 units), which is not officially represented in the country, took third place. The top five were rounded out by the Evolute i-Sky (76 units) and the Zeekr 001 (72 units), which became the bestseller among electric cars in the Russian Federation in 2025.
Yesterday it was reported that the company Evolute suspended the assembly of the electric crossover i-Jet in Russia. The manufacturer explained this by changing the focus to affordable and mass-produced models, as well as the fact that hybrids are now more in demand in the powerful NEV segment than pure electric vehicles.
