- The State Duma assessed the approval of the EU loan to Ukraine bypassing Hungary's veto
The issuance of another loan by the European Union (EU) will lead to heavy losses in Ukraine. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed this opinion on Wednesday, March 18.
Earlier it became known that the EU agreed on a loan for Kiev in the amount of €90 billion, bypassing Hungary's veto, IA Regnum reports. The exact timing of the loan allocation is not specified, according to the website. kp.ru .
"Ukraine has not yet received the 90 billion euro loan promised six months ago, and there is a high probability that it will not receive it, despite such long attempts to somehow spend it on stolen Russian money or through a loan, now it is necessary to overcome the veto," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
According to the politician, the decision to issue a loan is aimed at forcing Ukraine to continue fighting to the last Ukrainian.
"It is clear that without money, without weapons, Ukraine cannot hold out for a long time. The outcome is clear. These actions only lead to heavy losses in Ukraine," concluded Chepa.
On March 16, Politico newspaper noted that despair in the European Union over the inability to grant Ukraine a loan due to Hungary's veto reached its peak, which is why the governments of EU member states began to take a more confrontational position towards Budapest, RT reports.
European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis said on March 11 that the EU would provide Ukraine with €90 billion in any case, despite Hungary's veto, which had previously blocked the loan agreed in the EU to Kiev, motivating the decision by stopping Ukraine pumping oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
