The criminal case of football player Fyodor Smolov about a fight in a Moscow cafe will be brought to court. This was announced on March 18 by the Moscow Prosecutor's office.
"The criminal case will be sent to the court for consideration on its merits," the agency said in a statement on the MACH messenger.
A medical examination confirmed that the injury qualifies as a moderate injury.
The initiation of a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of moderate harm to health, not life-threatening") against a football player became known on September 10. Smolov's wife Karina Istomina declined to comment on her husband's criminal case to Izvestia. According to her, it was aroused "because it happened that way." The girl declined to comment further.
Businessman Andrey Popelukha, who became a participant in the fight, told Izvestia at the same time that the conflict between the two men and Smolov in the "Coffee Mania" occurred after they refused to have the athlete pay their bill amid the noisy behavior of his company. The athlete's wife, Karina Istomina, reported that Smolov, after a conflict with customers in a cafe, repented and apologized to the victims, and also offered to pay them compensation.
