The Russian Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, was handed only a bottle with a cloudy liquid as evidence of Russia's alleged involvement in the accident at the Ukrainian hydroelectric power station (HPP). This was announced on March 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov was even summoned to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, to whom a protest was expressed and a corresponding note was handed over. As proof <...> the Moldovan side presented <...> a bottle with a cloudy liquid," she said at a briefing.

Zakharova said that Moldovan diplomats did not specify what was supposed to be done with the bottle. According to her, no analysis of the content, description or any calculations were provided.

She stressed the absurdity of the presented "evidence" and the absence of any expert opinions or explanations from Moldova.

On March 12, the Moldovan government's press service reported that oil from Ukraine continues to pollute the Dniester River. It was clarified that in this regard, residents of the northern regions of Moldova cannot use water from the river for domestic needs.

On March 14, Moldovan authorities announced a temporary shutdown of water supply in four regions of the country due to a leak of petroleum products into the Dniester River, which occurred in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine near the Dniester hydroelectric power station. Currently, the environmental services of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania are working together to eliminate the pollution spot.
