As a result of the strikes on Iran, the South Pars gas field caught fire
A fire broke out at several facilities of the South Pars gas field, which is located in southern Iran, as a result of airstrikes by Israel and the United States. This was announced on March 18 by the head of the Assalluye district administration in Bushehr province.
"Several phases [of development] in South Pars were hit by shells from the Zionist-American enemy. To prevent the spread of fire, these phases were decommissioned," the Fars news agency quoted him as saying on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that in order to prevent the spread of fire, the phases were decommissioned. The head reports that the situation is under control, firefighters and the special economic service of the Pars zone are fighting the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on March 16 that it had launched a large-scale series of strikes against Iranian targets in Tehran, Shiraz and Tabriz. The day before, on March 15, the Israeli army reported that it had attacked more than 200 targets in western and central Iran in a day. It was clarified that among the targets hit were command centers, missile defense systems, as well as weapons depots.
