To combat pasteurellosis in the Novosibirsk region, active measures are needed due to the risk of mutation of the disease. This was announced on March 18 by the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, following a meeting with the leadership of the region.

"The disease is mutating now. <...> That's what is associated with pasteurellosis, we have to act more actively as a precaution," he said.

According to him, abnormal weather conditions, temperature fluctuations and weakening of animals give rise to new forms of the disease. As Dankvert noted, this information needs to be communicated to people.

"This is a lesson for everyone that information openness should be," stressed the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

Dankvert also stressed that farmers should not worry about false reports that the government allegedly gives priority to large farms in the current situation.

"[Deputy Prime Minister] Dmitry Nikolaevich Patrushev pays much more attention to farmers, because large farms are more resilient, and farmers are less resilient. For this reason, in this case, I think that there is no need to worry," said the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

On March 7, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk region reported that livestock had been seized in some areas of the region due to an outbreak of rabies. It was clarified that there is no threat to the life and health of the population. Local residents were urged to treat the situation with understanding, as well as vaccinate their animals. Subsequently, on March 10, the Investigative Committee of Russia organized an investigation into possible violations by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. In turn, the Minister of Agriculture of the region, Andrei Shindelov, introduced an emergency regime on March 16 due to outbreaks of rabies and pasteurellosis among livestock. On Patrushev's instructions, a working group headed by Dankvert was sent to the Novosibirsk Region.

On March 17, the head of the regional veterinary and sanitary support center, Yuri Schmidt, said that negligence had caused the spread of animal diseases in subsidiary farms.
