Mushroom prices in Russia continue to rise amid increased logistics costs, marketplace commissions, and a declining production base. This was reported to Izvestia by representatives of the House of Mushrooms company.

According to market participants, an increase in the cost of selling through online platforms had a significant impact on the cost of products.

"Prices have changed a lot due to the fact that marketplaces charge up to 46% of the mushroom price. If earlier we paid about 75 rubles for sending one jar, now it is about 350 rubles," the company noted.

Additional difficulties are associated with transportation and delivery quality.

"Despite careful packaging, the product may arrive in damaged condition. Logistics is often the problem: products are transported inaccurately, and the responsibility eventually falls on the manufacturer," business representatives explained.

According to the company, the lack of investment in the mushroom processing industry remains a serious problem.

"Previously, there were enterprises in Russia that produced equipment for processing mushrooms — mushroom cookers, dryers, cutting lines. Currently, there is virtually no such industry, so manufacturers are forced to create infrastructure on their own," the Mushroom House said.

The increase in costs also affects the purchase of raw materials.

"The purchase price of 1 kg of dried white mushroom today reaches about 4.5 thousand rubles. When purchasing several tons, this requires significant investments, so there is no reason to expect a reduction in prices," the company's representatives added.

Competition from imported products is also increasing.

"There is an active presence of Chinese mushrooms on marketplaces now. Their price may be three times lower, but these are artificially grown products," the company stressed.
