The United Russia faction in the Moscow State Duma has prepared a bill that plans to ban the sale of motor fuel to minors. Oleg Rozhnov, deputy secretary of the Moscow region branch of the party, announced this on March 18, the Izvestia correspondent reports.

"The bill is being submitted for discussion tomorrow. We hope to be able to adopt it before the start of the season," Rozhnov said during a round table discussion on decisions to limit pit bike riding on public roads.

He noted that during the preparation of the initiative, the experience of other regions was studied. Laws restricting the sale of fuel to minors have already been adopted by 11 regions, said the deputy chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma. The number of accidents involving minors on pit bikes in the Moscow region is growing annually, he stressed.

In November last year, it was reported that the State Duma had developed a bill to restrict the sale of pit bikes to children. He suggests that the sale of such two-wheeled vehicles will be allowed only if the minor has a certificate of graduation from motorcycle school and is intended to use this sports equipment. The bill also provides for a ban on riding pit bikes on public roads, and the document stipulates a ban on the sale of gasoline and diesel fuel to minors.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry's BDD Research Center, 659 accidents involving child drivers driving pit bikes were registered in the country from January to September last year. 23 child drivers were killed in them, and another 753 were injured.
