The consequences of the conflict between the United States and Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which threatens the entire global economy, are already clearly visible — its prolongation may result in an increase in oil prices above $ 100 per barrel. This was announced on March 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The conflict in the Middle East has put oil and gas markets in a state of turbulence, to put it mildly, and caused significant damage to the global economy. <...> With further prolongation of the conflict, a rise above $150, someone calls $200 per barrel, is not excluded," she said during a briefing.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that such figures directly affect the occurrence of recession in the economies of European countries. According to her, the continuation of the existing escalation may also result in a reduction in global gross domestic income (GDP) by 0.1%.

Atif Kubursi, a professor of economics at McMaster University, told Izvestia on the same day that the war in the Middle East had become a serious blow to the global economy. He stressed that every $10 increase in oil prices increases global inflation by half a percent, which at such a rate, with a price increase of $ 100, it can rise by at least five percentage points.

Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's international rating agency, warned on March 16 that countries like the United States were already in danger of recession. The expert clarified that the prospects for the American economy continue to deteriorate.
