The Investigative Committee (IC) for the Smolensk Region has launched an investigation into the discovery of the body of a man accused of abducting a nine-year-old girl in a cell of a pre-trial detention center in Smolensk. This was announced on March 18 in the department.

"Upon the discovery of the accused's body in pre—trial detention center No. 1, the investigative authorities are conducting an inspection," the department told TASS.
