In spring, motorists are advised to carry out a comprehensive inspection of the car after winter operation to avoid breakdowns and additional costs. This was announced to Izvestia on March 20 by Ashot Yeritsyan, Executive Director of the Department for Work with Partners of Sberbank Leasing JSC.

"First of all, we need to start preparing with a comprehensive car wash, including the bottom and wheel arches. Over the winter, reagents accumulate on the body and suspension elements, which accelerate corrosion," the specialist noted.

According to him, it is important to diagnose the undercarriage after washing, since in winter the suspension and steering experience increased loads due to temperature fluctuations, holes and ice tracks. It is also necessary to replace winter tires with summer tires in the spring to improve traction and reduce fuel consumption. At the same time, the tread depth should be checked in order to comply with safety and legal requirements.

The expert added that the need to replace technical fluids depends on mileage and maintenance regulations. If the planned event coincides with the end of winter, it should not be postponed. It is recommended to pay special attention to the engine oil, brake fluid and cooling system, as well as the battery, which runs with increased load in winter.

In addition, the suspension, brake system and paintwork of the car receive the greatest wear during the cold period. Reagents and moisture negatively affect metal elements, as well as rubber parts such as dust covers, silent blocks and seals, so their condition should be checked after winter.

"You can save on spring training by planning, for example, combining diagnostics and replacement of consumables in one visit to the service and choosing less busy periods. At the same time, it is not recommended to postpone the inspection of key components, since timely prevention allows you to avoid more serious costs and save the cost of the car for subsequent sale," Yeritsyan concluded.

Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, said on March 10 that it was too early for drivers in Moscow to switch to summer tires: night frosts persisted in March and the risk of cold weather returning was high. March remains an unstable month, so it is not worth changing winter tires before the beginning of April, in his opinion.
