Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a telephone conversation during which they expressed concern about tensions in the Middle East. This was announced on March 18 on the website of the administration of the Azerbaijani leader.

The sides exchanged views on the possible impact of the situation on the South Caucasus region. Merz welcomed the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, noting its importance for regional stability.
