The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, is completely healthy, and the injuries were minor. This was announced on March 18 by the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi.

"As far as I know, he had only minor injuries, and he is still completely healthy and has the situation under control. <...> The information I have and which I consider reliable is that he is in perfect health," he said in an interview with Al Jazeera.

Araqchi added that Iran's political system is very stable and does not rely on specific individuals. If one of the leaders is eliminated, another will be appointed, as happened with the Ayatollah.

On March 17, Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalili, denied reports that Khamenei was allegedly undergoing medical treatment in Russia. He added that Iranian leaders do not need to hide in shelters, because their place is in the streets among the people, and the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "cancels the magic of psychological warfare and the flow of lies."

On the same day, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Mojtaba Khamenei was fine and would probably make an appeal in the near future. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Esmail Bagai noted that Khamenei's first message had already been heard, and expressed hope for a new appeal to the public soon.
