The capital's enterprises have expanded the range of products suitable for meals during Lent, including desserts, butters, snacks and exotic fruits. This was announced on March 18 by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on the website mos.ru .

Manufacturers are increasing the production of products without animal components, milk and eggs, focusing on consumer demand.

"Today, about 360 food industry enterprises are operating in the capital, employing 65,000 specialists," said Anatoly Garbuzov, head of Moscow's Investment and Industrial Policy Department.

He added that the industry is demonstrating steady growth and development of the healthy nutrition segment.

"Enterprises are actively developing the production of products for healthy or specialized nutrition: they produce product lines without gluten or dairy components, reduce the concentration of sugar and salt, and eliminate artificial additives," Garbuzov emphasized.

Exotic fruits from different countries are also being supplied to the capital, which makes it possible to maintain a wide range all year round.

On March 3, Arina Samoilova, an expert at the X5 Club loyalty program, said that during Lent, the diet can be varied with simple and affordable dishes such as lentil cutlets, carrot fritters and baked cauliflower. She noted that such dishes allow you to experiment with flavors and serve as an alternative to the traditional menu, as well as help maintain a balanced diet with restrictions.
