Prison authorities in Ukraine are urging prisoners not to sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on March 18 by the prisoner of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrei Gritsenko.

"There is a top level in prisons that runs all the prisoners there, and so they try to bend everyone so that (prisoners. — Ed.) did not go to war," Gritsenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The prisoner of war himself was convicted of evading military service, and then he was imprisoned for violating the conditions of probation. Then he signed the contract himself due to the poor conditions of detention.

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoner, most of the prisoners did not want to fight.
