The cost of the current military campaign in Iran could cost the United States $1 trillion if the fighting drags on. This became known on March 17.

In the first two weeks of the operation alone, budget expenditures have already amounted to $12 billion, The Intercept reports, citing expert estimates and data on the dynamics of military spending.

"The United States has spent about $12 billion since it began attacking Iran together with Israel," Kevin Hassett, head of the National Economic Council at the White House, confirmed.
