A court in the Amur region sentenced a truck driver from the village of Urkan in the Tynda municipal district, who got drunk behind the wheel, caused an accident with the dead and fled the scene. This is reported by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The accident occurred on November 2, 2025, on the 17th km of the Solovyovsk -Taldan highway, at the exit from the village of Urkan. The driver of a Mitsubishi Canter truck drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a VAZ-2107 in which the family was traveling.
According to PriamurMedia news agency, the driver of the seven and his 37-year-old wife died on the spot, their 13-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, where he died a few days later from complications of injuries sustained as a result of a collision between a car and a truck.
As it turned out, the truck driver, a 31-year-old local resident, was driving under the influence of alcohol. After the accident, he fled without calling an ambulance or the police.
The man fully admitted his guilt, he was tried under clauses "a, b", Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules, which negligently caused the death of three persons, committed by a person in a state of intoxication and associated with leaving the place of its commission."
The court sentenced the truck driver to 10 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony and a subsequent ban on driving for two and a half years. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
