Moscow has agreed on a partnership in the field of cinema with colleagues from Mumbai

The Moscow film Cluster has agreed to cooperate with a Mumbai-based company. The corresponding agreement was signed at the Indian International Film Tourism Conclave, Deputy Mayor of the Russian capital Natalia Sergunina said.

The new partner was the Maharashtra Film, Theater and Cultural Development Corporation, established by the Government of this state in 1977. The organization oversees the operation of the largest film studio complex in Mumbai, Film City. Its area today exceeds 200 hectares.

"The agreement provides for cultural exchange, joint development of support measures for film producers, holding festivals and other industry events, as well as mutual promotion at the international level," Sergunina said.

Last August, at the Moscow International Film Week, the capital agreed to cooperate with its Indian colleagues. The result of this partnership was the filming of a cross-national film dedicated to badminton, which started in March at the Moskino Film Park. In the center of the plot is the story of an athlete who goes as part of the Russian national team to a tournament in India.

In 2024, work was underway in the capital on another Indian film, The Greatest of All Time. The sets for several scenes were the Patriarchal Bridge, Theater and Manezhnaya Squares.

Today, a multifunctional ecosystem has been created in the capital for the production of films, series and TV projects. It is based on the Moskino Film Park and Film Factory, Gorky Film Studio (venues on Sergei Eisenstein Street and in Valdai Passage), as well as a film platform.

In 2025, the area of the Moskino Film Park has almost doubled to 365 hectares. Two new filming pavilions have opened on the territory of the film factory of the same name, and work is actively underway to modernize Gorky's Film Studio.
