Two people died in an accident involving a truck on the Vilyu highway in the Angara region.

Two people were killed in a collision between a car and a truck in the Bratsk district of the Irkutsk region. This is reported by the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, March 17, on the 280th km of the Vilyu federal highway. It was previously established that a Toyota Corona Premio passenger car drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into a GAZ truck.

As a result of the accident, the 47-year-old sedan driver and his 73-year-old passenger received various injuries, from which they died on the spot before the ambulance arrived. The truck driver was not injured, says IA IrkutskMedia.

The police are conducting a check on the fatal car collision. All circumstances are being established.

The traffic police, meanwhile, note that driving into the oncoming lane is one of the main causes of the most serious accidents. In 2025, 10 people died in similar accidents on the territory of Bratsk and Bratsk district, and 31 more were injured.
