- In the Novosibirsk region, 190 million rubles were allocated for payments due to the seizure of livestock
The authorities of the Novosibirsk region have allocated more than 190 million rubles for monthly compensation payments to farms from which livestock were seized due to rabies and pasteurellosis outbreaks in the region. This was announced on March 17 on the official website of the government in the Novgorod region.
"A decision has been made to allocate 110 million rubles to the veterinary Department of the Novosibirsk Region and 80 million rubles to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Novosibirsk Region for compensation and social payments to owners of animals seized as part of anti—epizootic measures," the statement said.
It is specified that at the moment, the department has received 21 applications for damages. To date, compensation has been given to 13 families whose livestock has been seized. According to the submitted documents, the amount of payments amounted to up to 1 million rubles per applicant.
In addition to the current compensations, the regional authorities will introduce social support for citizens who find themselves in a difficult life situation due to the seizure of livestock and loss of income.
On the same day, the head of the regional veterinary and sanitary support center, Yuri Schmidt, noted that negligence was the reason for the spread of livestock diseases in subsidiary farms in the Novosibirsk region. A number of systemic violations in the private sector led to this outcome.
On March 7, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk region reported that livestock had been seized in several districts of the region due to an outbreak of rabies. It was noted that there is no threat to the life and health of the population.
Later, on March 10, the Investigative Committee of Russia organized an investigation into possible violations by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. On March 16, a state of emergency was introduced in the region due to outbreaks of rabies and pasteurellosis among livestock.
