Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded on March 17 to a warning from US President Donald Trump that French leader Emmanuel Macron would lose his post in the very near future.

"Trump said that Macron will leave his post very soon." Bon jour, as they say," the diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel.

At a meeting between the American president and Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin, Trump was asked how he assessed Macron's statement that Paris would not help unblock the Strait of Hormuz. The US president quickly remarked: "He will leave his post very soon, so we'll see."

Florian Philippot, the leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, said on February 7 that Macron had become the most hated leader in the world because of his low rating, and therefore no longer had the right to make any political decisions.

In November 2025, it was reported that the proportion of French people who express an extremely negative opinion of the French president reached a record 56%. The percentage of people satisfied with Macron's work has dropped to a historic low of 16%.
