The criminal case of the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Yurevich, was brought to court

The criminal case against Mikhail Yurevich, the former governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, and his subordinate has been sent to court. This was announced on March 17 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

"The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has completed a criminal investigation into the receipt of two particularly large bribes (Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), illegal acquisition and storage of weapons (Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) by the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region Mikhail Yurevich," the Investigative Committee of Russia writes on its channel in the IACH.

The department added that a criminal case was also initiated against the former adviser to the governor Alexander Moskalyuk. He is accused of mediating large-scale bribery (Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigation revealed that from May 2010 to January 2014, Yurevich received a bribe in the form of money in the amount of more than 3.2 billion rubles from representatives of the road industry in Moscow and the Chelyabinsk region. It is noted that the money was given for Yurevich's performance of actions within his official powers as governor, namely, in the field of repair and maintenance of highways.

In addition, in 2012, Yurevich received a bribe of 26 million rubles through the mediation of Moskalyuk from the Minister of Health of the Chelyabinsk region. It is noted that Yurevich also kept illegally acquired firearms at his home.

In April last year, it was reported that bailiffs had seized the accounts and assets of relatives of ex-MP Vadim Belousov and Yurevich to secure the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office in the case of the recovery of the property of the joint-stock company "Makfa".

The former governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Yurevich, escaped from law enforcement and is on the international wanted list. In 2017, the court sanctioned his arrest in absentia.
